First Day of School

Jake had his first day of kindergarten today! He was so excited. I got a little teary eyed saying goodbye, but he was too cool for school.

Hunter walked in the door and said, "Bye mom and dad!" Then he started to take off down the hall. We had to tell him to wait for us to walk him to class. I wonder if we cramped his style. I think next year I will say goodbye at the front of the school. He is on the second floor this year and is very excited about that. I doubt he and Jake will see each other at all. That is probably a good thing!

Circus Time

Hunter and Jake had a great time at the circus. We were able to go inside an hour before the show and see some acts. We got to see an elephant named Asia paint a picture. We also got to see the clowns do their acts.

Police Station

Hunter and Jake went to jail. They loved every minute of it. We got to tour the brand new police station in Round Rock. We got to go into the jail and sit in the police car. We also got to see the guns they use.

Teachers

We had dinner with Hunter's Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Malkani (Ms. Kiesling). She was in town from Philadelphia for her brother in law's wedding. We also went to see Mrs. Nino, Hunter's first grade teacher, at her new school. She is now an Asst. Principal. Hunter was so excited to see them both. The boys new teachers came to our home for us to meet them. Hunter is going to have Mrs. Ritter for 2nd grade. She is brand new to Cactus Ranch.
Jake is so excited about Kindergarten. He will have Mrs. Findlay. She is also brand new to Cactus Ranch. This is going to be a great year! Neither boys have any of their friends in their classes. We have 12 kindergarten classes and 11 second grade classes.

Football Training Camp

Hunter attended a training camp at the Erwin Center with the Austin Wranglers. They are our Arena Football League. He had a great time and the coach seemed to really like him. He called him Red and Texas all day long. Hunter was the only kid wearing a Texas jersey. Surpirsed?

Sunday at the Lake

We enjoyed a trip to the lake with our neighbors. We went to Volente Beach first and then rode around all day on the boat. Scott and the guys did some fishing and they caught some big fish. They got a couple bass and a catfish.

4th of July

Hunter's Pack marched in a parade today. We walked a mile and a half in 95 degree heat. He didn't complain once. I think all the walking at Disney World prepared him for today. His troop played Yankee Doodle on kazoos and they chanted their Cub Scout song as they walked. It was entertaining. Towards the end their leader would say, "We are hot hot cub scouts." and "We are thirsty thirsty cub scouts."

Disney

We had a great time in Disney World. We rode almost all of the rides and saw all of the shows. Hunter's favorite was a Nemo show called Turtle Talk with Crush. He is the surfer turtle from Nemo. He was called on to ask a question and he thought that was so funny. Jake enjoyed Star Wars weekend and he and Hunter got to play Ewoks in a Star Wars show. I know Scott's favorite moment was the Jedi Training Academy that Hunter was in. I ejoyed the Nemo Musical and all of the fireworks. I also liked the World Market at Epcot. It was magical. :)

Jedi Hunter

Hunter was lucky enough to take Jedi Training Camp. He fought Darth Vader and was so good that the Storm Troopers had to step in to protect him. It was so much fun!

Jake and his friends went to see Kung Fu Panda for Jake's 6th birthday. His birthday isn't until the 28th of June, but we went early because we will be in Disneyworld on that day. He had a great birthday.

Lazy River

We loved Rattlesnake River at Wild Oak Ranch in San Antonio. Hunter enjoyed swimming the lazy river and not using a tube. It was a great Father's Day.

Beach Boys

We had a great time at the Beach. We stayed in a beachhouse that was right on the ocean.

Young Chefs

We went to the Young Chef's Academy and made Watermelon Banana Sundays. We also took a tour of Cici's pizza and got to make our own pizzas.

Preschool Graduation and moving on to 2nd grade

Jake really learned a lot this year. He will be starting Kindergarten and I am very confident he is ready. We were so lucky to get him into the program he was in last year. Ms. Jeri was a wonderful teacher and she not only taught him so much, she made him independent.

Hunter will miss Mrs. Nino. She was his friend and teacher. He is looking forward to second grade. We have started reading more and writing in a journal to prepare for all the homework next year!
